This Summer, I joined a softball league with my friends which has been an awesome experience so far. Our team name is Sluggernauts and I wanted to start designing some logos, t-shirts, etc for us. Here is a little fun design I did that gives off the Juggernaut vibe with the color and metal look. I looked this technique from a tutorial I found on YouTube. I think it came out pretty decent. I'll update more designs as soon as I finish them. Stay tuned!
I've been on a design tip lately and I finally got to doing some design work for this media group I am apart of called HouseFire Media. HouseFire Media is a group of talented and musically inclined individuals that covers the ins and outs of the music scene in the U.S. I do photography work for this group and since I wanted to do more stuff graphically, here is what I have to spark the flame of that journey.
For coverage and updates on your favorite bands, visit: http://housefiremedia.wordpress.com/ Today, I picked up my very first Bearbrick Figures! I always wanted one, but it wasn't until recently that I started getting into them more. I headed over to Fully Laced and picked 2 boxes from the Series 24 set and got these guys. Even though I did get the ones I wanted, these started to grow on me. I was hesitant on buying a Bearbrick to bring with because I thought they would be the same size as Lego Figures which isn't bad at all, but I'd rather have something in my collection and view pleasure that is nice to see from afar. Overall, I'm really glad I made the decision to buy some Bearbricks and this will definitely not be the last time!
I am happy to say that my Toy Collection is slowly starting to grow. I was very pleased to get my hands on these Cris Rose Vinyls from the latest Kid Robot Side Show Series. Once I saw Camera + Toy, I knew I had to have it. I'm really happy with how these came out and I'm looking forward to see what else Cris Rose releases in the future since he does a lot of lens faced vinyls.
This morning, I took my nephews and niece to the Disney Store Monsters University Scare Class event where they were shaped into Monsters much like the ones you see in Monsters University. It was cool to see all of them participate and be excited about things like that cause it reminded me to never loose the inner kid in myself. They were given School IDs which I got one too and at the end of the class session, they gave everyone Monsters University Pennants which looks pretty awesooome! Since we were already at the Disney Store, I decided to pull myself a Pixar blox, hoping to get either Remy or the Luxo Ball Chaser. And with rage of happiness, I lift Remy out of his plastic! All I need now to complete my Pixar Vinylmation Set is the Luxo Ball Chaser which is going to be harder than ever. Unless I find a good price for one on eBay or trade forums. After the Disney in-store event, me and my sisters took the kids out for lunch at Old Town Sushi in San Mateo and since I haven't eaten there for a while, it really hit the spot. During our time at San Mateo, there was an annual Summer Street Fest where various vendors are put along the main street such as food, antiques and other random stuffs. We topped our taste buds with TPumps and I was happy that everyone had a chance to see why I love going to this place. My sisters, nephews and niece all loved the flavors they got and we were all full of food and boba. Now, I am going to enjoy the rest of my day watching Pixar movies. My Monsters University school ID (if only I still had my long hair. All the good stickers were taken haha). Monsters University Pennant! Welcome Remy to the family! Nemo getting ready to watch his own movie. Nemo reminiscing about the time he was put in the fish tank at the dentist office.
Hey guys! I just got back from S.F.S.U's Design Exhibit and I have to say it was another great experience with amazing people in the Design department and their hardwork. This year's event is called Fusion which highlights the meaning of coming together and showing different styles of work. In this case, there were a mixture of Graphic, Product and Technical Design. It was really nice to be in a room with gifted minds and people you normally do not see in your class which gets you more inspired and motivated to produce outstanding work. I had the honor of having 3 of my own designs displayed at the exhibit which I am not quite proud of, but happy to have other people intrigued by it. Overall, I am very proud of the people who put this exhibit together, they really bought the meaning and logo to life. I hope to see my work from this semester displayed at the next Design Exhibit. If you guys are free or have nothing better to do, go check out the SFSU Design Exhibit which is open until this Friday (May 17). For more information, click here.
Today wraps up the last meeting of my classes (besides Portfolio) and I still haven't felt the realism of graduating yet, even though the big day is next Saturday. However, picking up my cap and gown did give me a little bit of a wake up call. There is so much to look forward to such as going to Magic Mountain, Disneyland, CA Adventure, start design for myself and most of all....SLEEP! But first and last, I have to slay this book for my capstone course to feel done with school. Wish me luck guys! One of my Final Solutions to my capstone project which is based on the issue of improper coverage of the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing in BART trains.
