Finally! The moment I've been anticipating and raving over for the past few months. Even though it made it's official debut last night, I caught the Early Bird Special this morning. I took my nephews with me since they are just as big fans of Pixar movies as I am and I wanted to have a bonding time with them. So what better than to take them to see this movie? But enough about that, lets get into the story of Monsters University.
Monsters University takes place in the college life of Monsters Inc.'s famous duo, Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan (Sully). The story revolves around these two monsters and how they became the best friends they are known to be in Monsters Inc. Mike has always dreamt about being a "scarer" since his younger years and he finds himself enrolled at one of the most prestigious Monster Colleges ever, Monsters University. Mike follows his path of becoming a great scarer in the Scare Program at Monsters University where he encounters Sully for the first time. The two have very different outlooks of what it takes to be a top scarer and throughout the film, you can see these two butting heads a lot. Sully and Mike's reputation and dreams are put on the line when the Dean of the School, Mrs. Hardscrabble tears them a new one during an argument Mike and Sully had in class, leaving them kicked out of the Scare Program. In order to get their lives back on track, Mike makes a deal with the Dean by entering in the Greek Systems' "Scare Games", an event where all houses of the Greek System at Monsters University compete through vigorous challenges. In result, the house with the most points is crowned the top scarers. Mike's deal with the Dean was that if his house, Oozma Kappa (O.K) wins the Scare Games, he will have his spot back into the Scare Program. The Dean counters his deal that if his house wins, the whole house will be let into the Scare Program. This catches Sully's attention and decides to join Oozma Kappa as well since his reputation of being a legacy of one of the top scarers (his father) was dumped down the drain. Mike, highly unsatisfied about the situation, agrees to work with Sully in order to get his life back on track. Little did both of them know, Oozma Kappa had a bunch of monsters who weren't really seen as scary or even remotely athletic. Overtime, Mike and Sully agrees to put their differences aside and whipped the Oozma Kappas into a top tier house of the Scare Games.
Overall, I would like to say that this movie was a major success by covering everything the viewers needed to know about Mike and Sully as well as real-life situations. I recommend this film to anyone and everyone of all ages as it will enlighten you to follow your dreams and to work around the obstacles in your lives. I'm definitely going to watch this movie again for myself!
